I always look forward to my afternoon or early evening tea ritual. The Organic Hojicha is so mellow and earthy and flavorful. I love the beautiful color and aroma. The amount of caffeine is minimal, so I don't have to worry about not being able to fall asleep when it's time for bed. I've also made cold brew ice tea with it. I have a glass thermos with a strainer insert, and I put the tea in the strainer and fill it with cold water and leave it in the refrigerator overnight. It's perfect for lunch the next day.

This Hojicha loose leaf tea truly is a delightful, lightly sweet tea. I either brew for 2 minutes at a temperature of 180°F for a sweeter flavor or follow the instructions for a roasted warming cup, and I appreciate the complexity and variation I can bring ou with each new steep. It's a beautiful daily addition to my ritual of presence, and the highest quality tea I have tasted.

I have been drinking organic hojicha tea for many years. Recently my longtime supplier (a major tea supplier) stopped carrying the loose leaf. So i tried Ochoa. To my surprise, the Ochoa tea is far, far superior. I will be reordering.

I drink tea every day. It is something that is essential to my daily life. I've always bought a lot of tea every time I'm in Japan because I couldn't find a good tea that is reasonably priced. I'm so happy to find Ocha & Co. They offer great teas with reasonable prices. I think I'll be back soon!

Thanks for offering the low caffeine teas (Hojicha & Kukicha) so I can drink more of this wonderful premium teas day or night. I like to brew a large amount so i have it ready to drink hot or cold. Pictured is the brewed Kukicha tea which was the first tea I tried from you. Every new tea I try is a new experience.

I have been drinking tea for years. Ocha and Co is definitely my go to for great Japanese teas. I normally drink their Fukamushicha and their genma matcha. I wanted to try the hojicha and it did not disappoint, it’s a gentle and wonderful tea which you can enjoy hot or cold!

After having lived in Japan for 20 years and returning to Texas, I’ve been searching everywhere for some good tea.
And now I have FINALLY found it :-)

This tea is delicate, with an undertone of sweet flowers. A pleasant harmony that recalls summer and the sun on roses. Excellent for winter drinking!

Outstanding tea, top of the top! I knew Hojicha before, but not of that quality. It really looks like Kukicha, only roasted. The taste is an explosion on the tongue, reminds me of roasted almonds and pistachios, fresh walnut leafs, ground hazelnuts - and even makes me think of Highland/Speyside whiskys like Oban or Cragganmore. Also makes me think of the best Chinese Pu'er tea and Taiwanese Dark Pearl Oolong. The color is wonderful rusty-ochre. I need a 6th star for the AAA-rating!

If you have ever had the "bold" variety of bottled tea in Japan this really reminds me of that flavor except it has much more quality of taste than anything bottled for mass consumption.
I just need to get the water boiling and let a heaped spoon full in a loose bag steep for a few minutes and it's ready and comes out perfect. That same bag can be used at least 3 more times in 10oz of water per cup with good results. This is even works out quite well in the afternoon or evening as it just relaxes and calms you without the more prominent caffeine in other blends.
The standard 3.5 oz rule applies here, but this is a light blend and you actually are receiving more in the huge paper bag than in other blends which was a pleasant surprise indeed as it will last almost twice as long. Very satisfied with this blend and it is a very nice touch right now in a cold weather season. I have already entertained guests with this blend and they were very pleased as well.

From the moment you open your Hojicha bag to the actual sipping, it's a wonderful experience.

This Hojicha tea has a fantastic smell. Earthy, roasted aromas catch you off guard. It's actually one of the best-smelling teas I've ever had the pleasure of tasting.
The taste, as expected, is fantastic as well. It definitely is not like your usual sencha, but that's what precisely makes this tea so great. It has caramel-like notes on top of a strong smokey aroma.

The taste is strong yet not overwhelming. Since Hojicha contains little caffeine it makes for a great night time experience.

All in all, certainly one of the most striking tea experiences I've ever had. Already planning on getting some more when my bag will be empty!

this is definitely not the usual sencha. Hearthy flavours emanates from the latest harvest leaves of this tea, since the first moment you open its brown bag. My advice is to limit the steeping time to 40sec to 1min max so that you can enjoy a more balanced taste: caramel like notes, mixed with a distinct smokey aroma. Perfect after dinner, to improve digestion and have a restirative sleep (hojicha is almost caffeine free).

Perfect evening Tea
The leaves of this hojicha are a deep, rich brown in colour. It have have dark-roasted flakey appearance. The flavour is mild, and the aroma is rich and toasty. The roasting process of Hojicha destroys much of the caffeine, greatly lowering the caffeine content, and making this tea an excellent choice for those seeking a low-caffeine tea. The darker the roast, the less caffeine.

Me and my family enjoy this tea together at night, very smoky aroma and flavor with sweet and nutty tones , very rich by itself or with honey. Good job ocha and co your teas are better than what we can get here in the states!
