 ORGANIC  FUKAMUSHI SENCHA GREEN TEA

Fukamushi which means 'deep steamed' in Japanese is prepared using intense steaming; twice as long, as usual. This extra processing breaks down the structure of the leaf, releasing healthy nutrients and bioactives such as beta-carotene and Vitamin E into the brew. The tea has an intense green color, and a fuller rounded flavor with distinctive fine-floating tea particles. Rich and mild. It is becoming increasingly popular in Japan due to its mild taste and extra health benefits. Exposure to the sun increases the amount of the antioxidant catechins (EGCG) and vitamins.

yummy

this tea is so yummy.. But real talk--very solid and fresh. I brew the tea a little longer than it suggests (40 seconds) I steep for about a minute, I noticed that this brings out more flavor and other properties of the tea. Great energy for green tea, calm but energizing. Quite impressive.

High Quality, Authentic Organic Green Teas

A green tea connoisseur friend taught me about fine green teas over the years. After trying out the (all organic) Fukamushica, Kabusecha, Sencha, and Matcha teas, I excitedly called her to tell her about the teas at Ocha & Co. She laughed and said that she had been loving these teas for the last month. That's when I knew I had found the goldmine!

Good value but not a home run

The price point is good. This is a nice quality tea and at that price I think it is a good value. A few things were a bit away from my preference that prevented this from being 5/5. The first point is the sencha is almost powder like. I prefer my teas to be leaves or very thin strips. Because of this powder like size, the tea may overinfuse which leads to my second issue. The tea is a bit too bitter for my taste. I like sencha with bitterness to it but this was a tad too much. Good value but 3/5 stars for me.

Thank you for your honest appraisal. The tea that you reviewed is the Fukamushi Sencha and not the regular Sencha. Fukamiushi means 'deep steam' in Japanese and has been processed for longer than a regular Sencha. The aim being to break down the leaf structure. The powder and broken leaves are perfectly normal and not a result of mishandling in the warehouse. A bitter tea could be the result of using water that is too hot or brewing for too long. Just experiment with the parameters until you get a result more to you own liking.
