Matcha Iri Genmaicha as this combination is known in Japanese can be enjoyed both hot and cold to give a pleasant tasting drink with a hint of roasted rice. The Matcha added to the green tea helps the brewing process, adds color and a mild flavor, and in addition increases the health benefits of the tea. Made with a premium organic sencha rather than a lower-grade green tea, which is more common.

Add the leaves to cold water and leave in the fridge. Sweeter, smoother and less bitter than a hot brew.
Pour hot genmaicha over rice with an umeboshi and a sprinkle of nori. Toasty, simple and comforting.
